The British Cured Meat Festival is a fantastic celebration of UK charcuterie and its wonderful makers. November 2020 will see a fun packed day of the very best UK cured meat producers, drinks, live music, and fire cooked foods as well as fantastic bakers & cheese makers providing all the best accompaniments to your favourite meaty treats.

This year, the organisers Cannon & Cannon have invited The Charcuterie Board to oversee and undertake the judging of the awards. This provides a completely independent assessment process that will be completely transparent and ensure that Cannon & Cannon can concentrate on hosting a great event for everyone.

The Charcuterie Board will be running things in a brand new format, which allows products to be assessed in a relaxed but focused manner throughout the summer. Small batches of entrants’ products will be assessed each month by an amazing panel of industry experts, food writers, chefs and enthusiastic foodies, with Winners being announced at the festival itself, in the autumn.

Producers who want to enter these fantastic awards only need to register initially, as they will then be told which month actual product needs to be sent in. So, as soon as registration opens on the 20th January you can simply go to the Cannon & Cannon British Cured meat Awards page on their website by following this link-https://www.britishcuredmeatfestival.co.uk/awards/entry-form-2020/ and then simply add the products you want to enter (£15+ VAT per item if not a producer member of the Charcuterie Board) and you’re good to go!

Entrants will be excited to see that if they are Producer Members of the Charcuterie Board, entry to the awards if completely FREE! So, if you are not already signed up, you can solve that by clicking the link here; https://thecharcuterieboard.org/memberships/producer/ and as a double bonus, benefit from the current discounted membership rates as well! Simply enter voucher code CBMEMBER at the checkout to get your 100% discount! But please note there will be a limit on overall numbers (5 entries per class, per producer)

In addition to free entry to the British Cured Meats Awards, we are also pleased to announce that all of our producer members who enter will also receive an exclusive invite to our reception at the School of Artisan Foods, to meet some of the country’s top buyers and distributors, in order to provide samples and talk business! Alongside this, members will also get a free stand at our Artisan food fair hosted at the Welbeck Estate in September.

The awards are being kept very simple to enter, with a focus on the quality of the goods rather than being overly technical. Ultimately, it’s about how the product looks and tastes. The awards are focusing on traditionally air dried meats and so the three categories will simply be air dried salami products, air dried whole muscle products and snacking products. Producers can enter as many products as they like from their range, but please note that there will be a limit on overall numbers, so get in quick when registration opens!

REGISTRATION OPENS 20TH JANUARY 2020 – CLOSES 10TH FEBRUARY 2020

And remember you are only registering at this stage, no product will need to be sent until you are contacted after registration closes, informing you of which month your products will be judged.

Good luck to everyone!
